Teddington Lock Plans
Apparently the teddington lock lot are up to something with the council related, from the sounds of things they’re trying to get some money put into the place. One of the guys sent me this which I think is supposed to help explain things.
Seems they’ve been playing with models as well…
So if you plan on riding down there it might be time to get involved and get down there with a shovel!

Tool Storage area adjacent to road-side bins now agreed with Lock keepers. a metal lock up is going to be purchased :)
oh my, that looks quite insane. breaking my leg came at the worst time, as i’d be down and digging. oh well, plaster is off and only 5 weeks till i can ride again… =[
if the council are willing to help out i find myself asking the question as to what the money is going to? please dont say labour. Feels a bit weird paying to ride a place i helped start 10 years ago.

why dont the locals just keep digging a regular set of trails? without any entrance fees/clubs? the scene seemed pretty cool already? we dont need the council to help build a wicked spot!

Sounds to me like the opportunity is there with my £10 or not to be honest. i’m not cussing or hating on anyone down there. just seems like an odd thing to do considering the council are helping out for free. When we got loads of wood donated to us 8 or so years ago and built a jump box down there we didn’t start charging people to ride it or to join our club, it was just about sharing our spot and having fun with other riders.if it was for insurance purposes then id fully understand but i’m just at a bit of a loss as to why the “club” needs my or anyone else’s money when we’ve all put in so much effort in the years either at that exact spot or others all over our area. i don’t want to come across as a right cunt on this. i just would like some simple questions answered. I don’t think that’s too much to ask even if it is over a comment section on the internet!
i think it not just that all the ilegal place how it was but to make it more pro as it fit as comand

do you think it is a good time to put dirt jumps lox in good condition for more than 10 years bailey if you have a good background as a builder they need you as a member as well
RIGHT: The fact remains that social divisions are present down at the Lock and that there have been problems down there.
When i first arrived there were just 3 jumps and no one was around for months on end, i realised that this was not my spot> and i was hesistant to dig, i met the brasilian chaps and they decided to start digging….i eventually met locals and no one expressed any objection to the enlargement of the jumps. the ‘track’ eventually grew and people started to come down to ride
Elton is pushing for a membership scheme to show the council we are a dedicated bunch of riders,its a means of finding those people who are willing to stick with it. i just wanna ride the place and set a good example to younger riders and have fun…..i dont wanna go down there and feel like a gangsta bmxer.
there is funding available for youth and community based projects: the council cares about what happens down here, they want a positive environment for kids to dirt jump in. Money may go someway to replace tools which have been stolen >and further secure them FOR anyone who cares enough to dig on an ongoing basis. Its not going to be a council set of jumps but there is support there. Wheteher you like it or not we are part of society at the jumps and we either have the ability to inspire or to disintegrate it!
Some people had the idea to start a paid membership scheme to show those who were interested in being ongoing members we have seen many kids not feeling welcomed by the hardcore of riders that normally frequent the jumps; those that have the wrong bike or perhaps are ginger!, are too young or don’t yet have the basics. we have built junior lines for younger riders to keep happy on > maybe dirt jumping should be a right of passage which is battled for but this is NOT some ‘secret’ trail this is community land for all, not just elitist bmxers i have seen countless riders asked to leave the site. Sure we need to ensure that people chip in and do some building if they ride but we can never expect everyone to enjoy digging. also we cannot expect sub 10 yr olds to come and use heavy tools.
So with funding we will create a safer more socially inclusive site and your input will be welcomed needed
maybe this all sounds a bit too tame for you hardcore dirt jumpers but in this day and age we should welcome community investment. maybe you want teddington Lock to stay as a wasteland but the scene will improve from an uplift
so here we go for the first round of funding £10000 from ‘pounds for young people’ : 3 people aged 13-19 make a presentation to a panel and then we take it from there ….we will be having some meetings down at Ham youth centre starting tomorrow at 4pm and at the Lock so come down dig ride and input your ideas. you can mail me: pb@pb-id.com or call me on 07815729622

i thought since i been keeping quiet about the lock up till now i would finally have a say even though i & 8 other people have moved on to a new spot. 1st things 1st i want 2 clear up the little matter of chris getting brendan 2 rudely phone me up aquesing me & 2 other fomer riders of the lock of stealing the tools, lets get 1 thing straight we never stole the tools none of us have been down there since the last council meeting at the end of sept. as 4 the phone call chris your a little prick giving my number out threaterning to come round my house & i quote”i’m going to come round your house with my homeboys” do you really think thats i b shitting myself from that all i could do was laugh cause if u really want to threaten me how about doing to my face u cunt & were see how long it takes 4 u to hit the floor. right now to my second point the reason so many people have left the lock is because of chris starting arguments with every1 cause he has a serious attitude problem in all the 15 years i been riding & digging trails have never seen 1 argument between the locals its absolute bullshit & u need to grown up matey. now to my 3rd point iv’e seen the plans on digitalbmx none of u have listened to a word the council have said u forget its an open public place 4 anybody & everybody 2 use so exspansion plans will not work plus none of u have asked 4 consent from the council to expaned if u remeber john from the council said please contact me b4 anymore digging is done as they have to approve it 1st plus the club they wanted us to start, is about starting a committie who make the decisions on what gets built & how its going 2 happen not charge people to use a peice of land that u dont own & if i feel like coming down & riding no1 is going to tell me 2 pay them a tenner b4 i can ride. u can go fuck off cause i have the right to use that land 4 my own pleasure just the same as any1 of this countries millions of people none of u have the right to tell any1 who can use that land. well, iv’e said my peace now if any1 got a problem with what i just said feel free 2 come see me if u got the bottle instead of hiding behind a phone like brendan. further more you guys forget it was matt hannah who contacted the council in the 1st place but what happened chris argued with him at every oppotunity untill matt eventully gave up on the place after he put so many years hard work down there.& the jam would have never have happened if me & andy had not put so much work 4 it & this is how u treat us by calling us thievs just because we started a new set of trails, the only reason we moved on was because of the bullshit u lot need to relize that the lock is 4 everybody not yourselfs
