Kingston BMX Scene Web Edit

To go with the recent Kingston RideUK article written and photographed by Gareth, I put together this Kingston Scene web edit. Ive been thinking about doing something like this for a while now and because of our local skatepark being rebuilt i thought it was a great opportunity to make a street edit of the Kingston locals. Thanks to everyone who has worked hard to get clips in the small time-frame, enjoy. James

King Field | Kingston Skatepark is open

Kings field is now open. See the press release below

The King’s Field skatepark is designed to provide a place to ride for skaters, BMX riders, inline skaters and scooters of all ages and abilities. The ambitious design combines small rollers, a large jump-box, multi-level bowl, spine ramp and a technical street course. The interlinked sections can be ridden by different groups simultaneously whilst the central area provides a common space for the riders to socialise. Ridden all at once, as a complete circuit, the park gives a really unique combination of freeform concrete terrain, one that is ready to be enjoyed by all for years to come.

News on price of entry for the park coming soon…

Kingston BMX Scene Edit Coming soon

The last couple of weeks have been the most stressful, anxious and enjoyable time of my Kingston BMX experience. For the last four weeks i have been nagging all the Kingston locals to get some footage to go with ride magazines latest article on Kingston scene. Its all been pretty rushed but hopefully you will enjoy it. It’s loosely film around the Kingston area and is 95% street. Thanks to all the riders who have worked hard to get clips done. Should be dropping next week some time.

Post Closed

I have decided to close the posts on the ‘shame‘ article as its getting a bit out of hand.

I just read a post saying: “… james just remember we all know who you are……………..”

That was uncalled for. If you have noticed in the comment thread I haven’t made one comment about this as I wanted to leave it open as a discussion point. There is no need to make open threats to me. I didn’t take these pictures and honestly it doesn’t matter. It was merely to highlight the fact that the Skatepark shouldn’t be ridden..by anyone. The information i was given was regarding the issue of insurance and the threat of it been closed down if used. Something none of us want.  Yes I’ve seen bmxers ride the skatepark which is disappointing, so it was not a post attacking skateboarders, it just so happened that they were there at the time.

There is no need to get aggressive about this. At the end of the day we all wanted the Skatepark, we all do a similar sport, and we all have fun doing it. I don’t feel anything bad towards anyone who rode/skated/bladed the park just sad that some people couldn’t wait, but that’s their call.

By the time you read this the park will be open, lets just enjoy it. J

Old Kingston Skatepark Edits

I think pretty much everyone had a love hate relationship with Kingston Skatepark, it was built in this carbon fiber plastic that you wouldn’t wish on any skatepark but seemed to be favorite with councils at that time. None the less, it was a skatepark, and it was our local so we made do. Some nice little edits came out of it and with that i put together a list of as many edits i could find of the old Kingston ramps. Check it out.

Its Thursday morning and its time for another Kingsfield Skatepark Update. I swear this has to be the most extensively photographed skatepark builds ever. Myself and Sam had a look round and its looking awesome, the lines look sweet and stuff is getting called already.
