Kingsfield Skatepark Results
Well it looks like maverick won to build the new Kingston skatepark. The designs were real good but i think some tweaking really needs to be done. Lets hope it turns out as awesome as everyone hopes. Its looking good so far.

1st place: Maverick 123 votes.
2nd place: Bendcrete 103 votes.

I made a shit video
I’m all about photos, I find it really hard to care when it comes to making videos. Which is my excuse for the shitness of this little edit. We only got the camera out for 3 park or street sessions, mostly I guess cos I’ve got the camera and I’m rarely out riding park or street. Anyway here it is. Trails one to follow when I can be arsed.

Rescheduled Gravity Meeting
Just got a email about the rearranged meeting with Gravity:
This meet is now planned for Sat 12th December at Kcafe at 12.30.
Afterwards we will have a meet to decide on preferred design (following Wheelscape and Maverick this weekend.) Then it will be up to the council to put out tender notices and then we can get things moving.
From looking at their website two things come to mind.. lots of bowls and very slippery concrete!..

Kings Field – Time at the bar
Just a quick reminder people…. this Thursday (24th) I’ve got to head to the last Skatepark meeting before our brief goes out to tender with all the park building companies. Don’t forget to have your say about what you want see in the new park. Hit up the comments and i’ll check them before the meeting. React!!
Kings Field Redevelopment
Finally sorted out an area where you can view up to date progress of Kings Field (Kingston) skatepark redevelopment. Every time a blog gets posted about the park it will be updated on here: http://www.digitalbmx.com/category/kings-field-park/ or just hit the ‘Kings Field’ tab in the nav.
Kingston Park Redevelopment Meeting
Had a meeting last night about the redevelopment of Kingston/ Kings Field park. Nothings final yet but its a good start even if some people were being unhelpful.. no bowl.
Anyone got anything to add that you think we need in the park..?
Key points-
1. Agreed small representation group for next couple of meets. Matt (Skaters), Aaron (BMX), Sean (in line) Lou (girls/young women), David (Richmond Youth Partnership) , Gaye (Parks), Steve (general know everyone/everything person). These people MUST feed back info to other park users.
2. Agreed timescale. Final list of requirements re new skate park to be agreed by end of Sept. Then out to contractors for design pics. Final design November. Contractor appointed by Christmas for build in time to open Summer 2010.
3. Agreed consultation. RYP to put a notice up in Kcafe with post its for ideas. Also a brief yes/no questionnaire on the following key points. We won’t use the existing design pictures we have from Wheelscape although concept 2 was the preferred option at this stage.
4. Key features of the new park.
a. Good flow and transition.
b. Not a bowl.
c. Not too big/too small (ramp heights around 6ft)
d. Beginners area (like Horsham)
e. Must have a long, wide 1/2 pipe
f. Edges should have coping on one side and angle iron on the other
g.Varnished concrete surface (NOT paint) Like Royal Oak
h. A surrounding bank with seating, shelter and ability to act as wind break for those freezing windy winter days
i. A bit of debate around stairs but on the whole it was yes but maybe with a bank in the middle
Contractors- Dreamline (?) Maverick, Wheelscape.
Ktown compage
As you probably know Saturday was the latest comp at Kingston Skatepark, sweet weather, good turnout, goodtimes. Sam won it, Rory 2nd and Jake 3rd. Everyone rode good though. The under 18’s have noticeably improved since the last one, good work kiddies. Heres some photos, apologies for them being a bit shit, I was judging as well and its hard with a pen and paper in the other hand trying to take notes!
Ktown Update
Well it looks like the voting is finally over to raise money for the new skatepark. It was a crazy couple of weeks, but its looking hopeful. Big shout out to Kev for pushing with the promotion and such.

Our next Skate & BMX park redevelopment meeting is on 4th of July, 11am at Kcafe. Gaye Galvin will be attending this meeting! We will be talking through the next stages of the project.
