Kings Field Update
An update on what’s going on with the Kings Field Re-development meetings. I think the list below will now go to contractors to draw up some designs (these wont be final so tweaks are still an option). Any comments on the below?
a. Good flow and transition -
b. Not a bowl – but bend/curves to be included – an example of this is at Dorchester.
c. Not too big/too small (ramp heights around 6ft)
d. Beginners area (like Horsham) out of the way of the main park wheeled traffic
e. Must have a long, wide linked 1/2 pipe – long stretch, wider, so you do not fall off the side.
f. Edges should have coping on one side and angle iron on the other
g. Varnished concrete surface (NOT paint) Like Royal Oak
h. A surrounding bank with seating, shelter and ability to act as wind break for those freezing windy winter days – like at Tolworth
i. A bit of debate around stairs but on the whole it was yes but maybe with a bank either side.
j. finish, not paint better quality so to reduce deterioration and roughness
k. street elements – driveways
l. Wall ride
m. Vertical aspect to a ramp
n. long grind rail – circular not square
o. Jump Box
p. Grind blocks to use as manual pad
q. incorporate into half pipe
r. Spine ramp (linked to ½ pipe and/or street course)
Other Discussions points
- Question re varnish- this could be slippery. A very smooth high quality concrete finish may be just as good.
- Suggestion of a presentation weekend at KCafe for potential contractors to come and sell their design (late Nov)
- Also questions re ongoing inspection of site by skate/BMX user group. – We would like this to be part of the contract.
- Also questions re payment schedule- can this be skewed towards the end of the project (and include penalties for delays
- Membership scheme was felt to be a good idea as long as one offs were still able to happen and as long as prices remain reasonable.
- Landscaping was agreed as a good idea- banks to act as a wind break/viewing area towards the football pitches.

Re-Session Dirt Jam Vid
Tired of hearing about the recession? Then start focusing on the Re-Session! Fuzzy did an amazing job on his backyard BMX dirt course. Some crazy tricks went down from some of the top pros in BMX – including the whole Redline team.
Budget Jam Vid 09
Some crazy riding in this. Another Budget Jam video but this time filmed by Sean Pointing. Flair whips look scary!
Woking Pics
Here are a couple of pics from Alex and Myself. Some woking and random pics which were taken a couple of weeks ago. And a scary picture of Mullet doing a filp, please never do it again.
Isaac Lesser Simpel Sessions
Isaac’s a machine, no wonder he made it to second place in simple session.
Budget Jam 09 Web Vid
Mike King made a nice little edit of the Budget Jam that happened this weekend. Looks like fun was had by all.

Tom Arkus Helmet Cam
These been a few helmet cam videos knocking about recently, they are just really addictive to watch, doesn’t even need any tricks in them. Thought this one was real nice. What is that at 1:15.. 360 lookback?
Alone BMX New stuff…

Alone XL Turtlenecks
Zeal’s very own in-house brand Alone will have a bunch of new products dropping late October at all good Zeal dealers.
XL Turtleneck Grips (Extra long) – in a bunch of colours.
AC/PC Pedals
Alone-ier Cables – in a bunch of colours.
Brake Pads
We have more of a focus on consumable items these days…
but perhaps I could be tempted to work on a new Maiden V2 frame in the future – who knows!!!

The latest skate park development meeting took place on Thursday 3rd September.
In attendance were Gaye Galvin, Matt (skaters), Aaron (BMXers), Sean (Inline Skaters) plus Steve and myself.
The number of attendees is lower to the previous meeting there was an agreement to elect representatives of each user group of the skate park so that views could be collated.
